Hey everyone.
All of you have probably wondered what the heck happened to me after Japan, huh? XD What happened to Syndemic and my VN? Weeeeell, I've been SOOOO busy it's ridiculous. xD
I'm in a four year program in physiology and developmental biology and needless to say these classes are really insane. Sorry I haven't gotten much of a chance to socialize/work on shit. I'm still game on all my projects/art/stories/etc.
UM. SO. Attention Ondine's Curse auditioners/cast members/people.
I bet every single one of you is wondering, "what happened to World?" "Why hasn't she been contacting me?" "I bet she's contacting a bunch of other people but she hasn't been contacting me!" "Ajkdfhasfk"
Wellll the truth is, no one's been contacted at all xD I've just been that busy. Yeah, I picked up three lines from Sno-Oki, but that's pretty much the extent I've done with the voice cast. Things still aren't 100% concrete right now. Now that the script is coming together, I found I've got new characters that I need to cast, and that some of the voice actors I already have would be great for them, but then I'd have to do an entire cast reshuffle. I've also found main characters I *completely* forgot to cast. So basically all that's set in stone in terms of parts right now is that some people are in it. Can't give a *full* cast list until I've written at least 80% of the script...
But I'm not firing anybody either. xD Don't panic.
If anyone has a problem with this, please comment :3
So when will the script be done? Patience. I have about 15% done right now, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it is for the amount of time I've spent writing the script (about 3 days orz). More or less, I write when I'm inspired. That's what I did with my other visual Novel, The Suicide King, and it's already over 10 gameplay hours long (that's almost 5000 pages in Microsoft word) and I haven't even been working on it a year. So finishing a 3 hour game really isn't hard at all, in comparison. I just want it to have the quality of writing that The Suicide King does (because that's probably the best shit I've ever penned xD).
If you HAVE to have an ETA, I'm gonna guess March. I know I wanted to have this done by September, but who knew Summer could be so busy? o___o
So yeah sorry about the hiatus, everyone. A LOT of my trouble is also that
1)I'm coding a feature length video game entirely BY MYSELF WITH NO HELP AT ALL.
2)Writing is the labour of love and must be done right :3
3)I have to do ALL the art. Every tiny sprite is hand-drawn and then coloured for hours on photoshop.
4)I HAVE TO RENDER CUT SCENES.
5)Colouring everything will take over 60 hours easily and
6)GAME ANIMATION AND MENUS ARE ALL CUSTOM WRITTEN AND RENDERED BY ME
7) Finding royalty-free music is downright impossible and takes a huge chunk out of my wallet, which leads me to
8) Since all photographs are copyrighted, I have to take EVERY location photo myself. Meaning all the parts where it takes place in Japan? In a surgical suite? In Venice? I have to literally GO THERE and take pictures personally. xD
So yeah. This is taking a LONG time. xD No one freak out. It's getting done. THEN, once it is all FINISHED, I have to go back and direct all the voices and code and time every individual line into the script and basically change everything! 8D
Fun!
So why am I complaining about this? XD I do love doing it. I'm not complaining because I hate it. I'm complaining because I love it xD It is fun, and I enjoy every moment of it, but holy hell is it a timesuck. I just kinda want everyone to understand the kind of commitment I'm making <3
Oh, and also because I'm accepting volunteers/part time work. xD
Yes, I'm actually offering a paying position for colouring this shit. You'd have to submit a portfolio, though. I'm like... Nazi specific with this, since I'm gonna be paying someone. Guys, I work at a shitty bakery for 9 dollars an hour. This is how desperate for colourers I've become xD
Or taking Photographs of neat locations around your home. I live in a city literally plopped in the middle of freaking nowhere, so getting out and finding good locations for visual novels is very hard. All you'd need to do is take a camera, point, and shoot. Of course, should you choose to help, I'm *very* specific. I'll have to send you examples of two or three scenes I've already taken photos of for the game for you to understand. xD
Uh that's not a paying position, though. XD
But any volunteer help would be welcomed and loved and greeted with kisses <3333
